Food additive E951 aspartame is an artificial sugar substitute, a sweetener containing phenylalanine. One kilogram of aspartame corresponds to about 200 kg of sugar. Although in reality foods containing aspartame have the same sweet taste, their chemical composition is not quite that of sugar.
